Indigenous Life in Canada: Past, Present, Future: Cultural Appropriation by Heather Hudak with content consultant Danielle Bird, is one of the titles in the series published by Beech Street Books.

Various contexts such as art and fashion, sports, literature and movies are included. It also covers derogatory terminology.

This 32-page book is designed for elementary students from grades 4 to 7. 

Using colour and archival photographs, a glossary of terms, suggested references, and an index, the book contains simply written text illustrated with maps, charts, contemporary photographs.

Each book has brief sidebars of additional details about a topic as well as suggested framing questions that assist students in using the historical inquiry method. 

Note: The Assembly of First Nations and the Canadian Museums Association worked jointly to produce Turning the Page: Forging New Partnerships Between Museums and First Peoples in the late 1980s.

A result of this work is that anthropology and community based museums, arts funders and public art museums and galleries in Canada are changing their practices in recognition of systemic racism that resulted in the erasure, absence and victimization of Indigenous peoples in Canada's cultural heritage. Some diagrams may be misleading in light of these developments.
